Vineyards or wine tasting events for far NW burbs

Wasn't sure if I should post this question here or in the wine board but this is location specific.

I've been "tasked" with planning a ladies' event for this summer. I have limited knowledge of wine and my friends don't have any. We would like to have an event around learning more about wine - either going to a class or doing some wine tours. A good atmosphere is key. I'm really looking for McHenry or Lake counties but if there is something super fantastic in those south of us, or even in Southern Wisconsin, I would consider it. But I prefer close.

Any recommendations?
