Lunch off route128?

Looking for a place that is easy to find off of 128 that we can have a leisurely (but not expensive) lunch on Saturday. We would prefer something ethnic and not a chain. Anyplace between Dedham and Waltham will work.

Kouzina ia a great non-chain choice for a Saturday lunch. Get off at Route 16 Newton, turn right at Beacon St and it is in Waban Center, about 2 minutes off 128 without too much traffic.

Taqueria Mexico in Waltham is also not far off 128, and is an ethnic nonchain, nonexpensive choice.

New England Soup Factory is just of 128 in Needham. The only time I was there - don't recall the time - it was quite busy. They do mostly take-out, with limited seating. But the soup is excellent. If that appeals to you, I would call them today and ask what part of the lunchtime window is the least busy.

I agree with the rec for Green Papaya although I haven't been in a while, either. There is a Japanese resto in the same small strip of stores, visible from the highway.

I believe one of the hotels right off 128 in Waltham is the site of Boxx, which features steaks and burgers, I am told.

I think you probably mean Bokx 109, which is in the Hotel Indigo in Newton. Never been, though.

Kiku Yama Steakhouse in Dedham. I've been there for dinner many times, and it's pretty good. Not expensive. It's a short drive on Rte 1 East from 128.

That's technically not Rte 1 (it was, many years ago), as Rte 1 hits 128/I95 in Dedham, and then is the same road as 128/I95 (although it's I-95 S at the same time it's Rte 1 N). It's the "Boston-Providence Highway", if you're using a map or GPS

Not expensive, not a chain, ethnic (I'll call it fast Indian" for lack of better description) and right off128--Pronti Bistro on Highland Ave Needham. Very tasty and interesting.

Comella's serves great Italian for short money.
288 Washington in Wellesley, rte 16 west.
They also have one in newton.

Haven't been in awhile, but I've still seen good mentions of the Green Papaya at the Winter st exit in Waltham.

Domenic's in Waltham has very good Italian - a minute or two off exit 26 - go on line and check their menu

Domenic's makes wonderful sandwiches, but you are limited to a very small counter against the window to eat, if that is a consideration
