Musubi mold?

  • 7

Anyone know where I can find a musubi mold in the Boston area? I'd rather not buy it online and pay a few bucks for the plastic thing itself, and another few bucks for shipping ...

  1. Haven't ever seen one. Have you considered the empty spam can? http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/20...

I assume I'd need to do a little metal work with the can ... it's an idea. I just hope I don't cut myself in the process!

    2. If you are willing to forgo the rectangle shape and make do with a triangle, I found a onigiri mold at Reliable market for just a couple of bucks (seaweed wraps included). Otherwise I think the span can is a great suggestion.

I was looking at onigiri molds, too. They'd certainly make for more fun shapes ... I think it'd be a back up plan.

      2. I'm 75% sure I saw them at Miso Market in Cambridge.

GTK--I'll check it out the next time I'm in the area then. Thanks!

I just visited Miso Market, and they're all out at the moment. They're going to have more in sometime soon, they said. The only kind of molds they have right now are nigiri molds.
