Le Bernardin - lounge (lobster en brioche and cocktail)
I want to go to Le Bernardin for a lobster en brioche and a cocktail (suggested cocktail) at the bar during my up-coming visit when is a good time to go? Are some days better than others? Do you I need a reservation or can I just pop in during the late afternoon?
Thank you for any help you can offer.

What days of the week will you be visiting?
I believe the dress code is business casual at the bar, jacket required in the main dining room.
Also note their hours:
Lunch: Monday - Friday 12:00pm - 2:30pm
Dinner: Monday - Thursday 5:15pm - 10:30pm, Friday & Saturday: 5:15pm - 11:00pm
They are closed in the late afternoon until 5:15pm, and closed on Sundays.
Hi Kathyrn...you helped me with my Momofuku questions before...thanks again!
We will be there on Sunday, March 11 and leave on Thursday, March 16. I am really glad you pointed out the dress code as I would've felt a little stupid going there with jeans on.
So do I need a reservation for the bar?
I also wanted to try Boulud Cafe for breakfast or lunch...is there a dress code there? Do I need a reservation?
Thanks Kathyrn...you have been really helpful!!!

Le Bernardin does not take reservations for bar/lounge dining, it's walk-in only. I'd recommend walking in on the early or late side to have a higher chance of getting a seat. For example, for dinner, I'd walk-in before 6:30pm.
Cafe Boulud is business casual. They'll still let you in if you wear jeans, but you'll likely feel out of place since everyone else is dressed up. You should make a reservation.
And just an FYI. We walked into the lounge a few days after it opened, GF and I both had nice jeans on (and I had a sports coats on). I hated the idea of going in with jeans on but we were right in the neighborhood and we thought if nothing else we would get to sneek a peek at the new decor. I asked the women if we were okay with jeans in the lounge area and she said "no problem".
