Tongue

Does anybody know where cooked and sliced beef tongue can be found? It's a dish I like from time to time but I can't recall having seen it anywhere recently.

  1. Black Hoof has a Beef Tongue sandwich regularly.

      1. Caplansky. Some people have commented it is too soft, but I don't find it to be that way personally.

          1. Centre Street Deli in Thornhill...
Just about any 'jewish' style deli should have it on the menu... or in the meat counter for takeout.

I would try calling NORTOWN on Eglinton at Bathurst...not sure if they would have it but worth a try..also YITZ's Deli on Eglinton at Avenue Road, perhaps even KATZ'S Deli on Dufferin south of Yorkdale...Agree with 'flying 101' re Deli's as above...Since I live in midtown the places I mentioned are 'closer' to my house...

            2. Nortown certainly has it, as would any bigger Jewish or kosher-style deli worth its salt.

Many thanks for all your suggestions but I live "downtown" (Bloor/Yonge) and was hoping for an outlet more in that area. I don't drive but am happy to take the TTC. Anyway, thanks again.

PS: I was looking to buy tongue rather than find it on a restaurant menu.

Nortown is on Eglinton, just a short bus trip from Eglinton West station. Worth the trip.

Check out European meats b4 the close in April, I wouldn't be surprised if they carried it in their cold cut section (back counter).... Or just call them up [(416) 596-8691] and ask if they carry 'pickled tongue'.
