Am taking a friend to lunch who grew up in crab country and adores crab cakes. Am searching for an outstanding crab cake in Center City.....any recommendations?

We end up getting crab cakes more often than not when, and, somewhat surprisingly, the best we've had in the city were at City Tavern.

But we have tried neither Rt. 6 or Oyster House, both of which are on our list right now.

Or you might try two chains.. Devon Seafood or McCormick and Schmick's. Not my cup of tea but people seem to like their crab cakes.

Unlike Baltimore, we are not a huge crab city. However I would look to two restaurants to consider: the Oyster House and Route 6. Both have crab cakes as a main rather than as an appetizers like so many others. If I had to choose between the two, I would probably choose the Oyster House.
