Family in town for one night

I have two cousins (guy 35 and girl 39) who are coming to NYC for one night from Tennessee. They've never been to NY before so I want to take them somewhere with good food and a good NYC vibe. Nothing too expensive, a bit more on the casual side would be better. They are staying in midtown-- so that would be easiest, but open to traveling if it's worth it.

Bottom line, something fun with good food that they will remember and talk about-- but won't break the bank. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Pj Clarkes on the East side for casual burgers, etc, Il Buco downtown for NY feel and Italian, Tao for more trendy Asian .

Take them for a ride on the L train to Roberta's, in Bushwick.
      Seriously.
