DC Chow coming to Brooklyn to celebrate retirement--where to go?

I’ve recently retired and my siblings want me to come up to Brooklyn for a celebration dinner. We are looking for something at the price level of Henry’s End or Chestnut and preferably in the following neighborhoods: Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Red Hook, DUMBO, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill and maybe the outskirts of Park Slope (where parking wouldn’t be too difficult). We like Italian, American, French, seafood. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I've never been to Henry's End, but Henry's End it is. Will let you know how the meal was for all of us. Only 3 of the 10 of us have ever been there.

Okay, so folks around here already know from other threads that I'm a regular at Henry's End and think the world of it. And I went for my own retirement only 3 weeks ago, so I practice what I preach. Congrats... we're probably close to the same age &, from your other post on this board, we probably even grew up in the same neighborhood (Midwood Field, Ave J., etc). So go to Henry's End. The gnocchi w/boar on the current game menu is great, the turtle soup excellent and the menu is deep enough that everyone will be fine (very nice salmon, tuna, blackened steak, chicken dishes.....). And its lively. With a good wine and beer list. Enough said?

If you like Henry's End, what's wrong with going there? I think a recent thread has pointed out the closing of Chestnut. In the neighborhoods you mentioned, Jack the Horse in BH is always popular. Colonie on Atlantic Ave is a favorite of mine. Then there's Queen on Court for some pretty good Italian though its prices tend to the high side if you're not careful. Down in Cobble Hill area I like Bocca but the place may be too casual for a retirement celebration dinner. Same too for Bar Tabac. Saul's would be a good choice. Have not been to Battersby yet but its seems to be getting good reviews. For french I really like Sue Perette. For something totally different, Alma for mexican is good. In PS I'm a fan of Blue Ribbon. I'm sure others will point out more options. Lots of choices in the areas you mentioned.
