Birthday dinner suggestions in San Diego?

I'm looking for somewhere to take my mother for
her birthday dinner. Our preference is for
somewhere close to Solana Beach, however, we'll
drive for extraordinary food. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

El Bizcocho (sp) in Rancho Bernardo at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. In my opinion maybe the best San Diego has to offer.

In Solana Beach itself, I'm partial to Parioli's at 647 S. Hwy 101. It's my favorite of the North County Italian restaurants, and once you're inside, it is elegant in a cozy way. We've had some exceptional food there. Going out a little farther, my vote is for Trey Foshee's cooking at George's at the Cove in La Jolla. If it were my birthday, I'd ask for a field trip to Parallel 33 on Washington.

The Marine Room in La Jolla Shores is elegant cusine and very elegant decor. Not inexpensive. One step down is Tapanade inLa Jolla Village. Either is v ery MomsBirthday appropriate.

            Hi Stephanie!

So where did you go? How was it?
