Burton's Grill

We received a gift card to Burton's Grill at Christmas. The person that gifted it to us loves this place. They usually go to the Peabody location.

I know nothing about Burton's food except what she has told me and sometimes she and I eat quite differently.

Anyone have first hand knowledge of Burton's? What dish they enjoyed the most and what location they think is good and/or better than another one? I have read some reviews from another source and they are all over the place so I thought I would come to the experts.

Thanks, in advance, for any comments, good, bad or indifferent.

  1. This is an easy question for me. I go to the one in North Andover occasionally. My favorite dish is the Salmon Picatta. The grilled Salmon is also good. For appetizers, the grilled Zucchini appetizer is my favorite app..although the spinach and artichoke dip is a close second.
While those are my favorites, Burton's also does steaks well. The New York strip is particularly good ( athough difficult to finish).
One of the guys in my group always gets a burger and swears it is the best he has ever had. I haven't tried it, so can't comment.
Honestly, I can't think of anything negative to say about it in all the visits I've had there. Everything has always been very nice.

    1. Burton's is a glorified 99, food is not bad just unremarkable.

This is a tough crowd. I have been to the one at derby street in hingham and found nothing similar to a 99. I have a friend who dines out several night's a week in the Andover area, and loves that Burtons.

Treb...really..? The 99 is the last thing that comes to my mind when at Burton's. I guess the only comparison I could make to the 99 is the active bar scene, especially in the after work crowd which is usually when I am there.
Beyond that, I can't think of anything I can compare it to the 99. The quality of the food between the two cannot be compared..nor can the quality of service. To me..the 99 is like "salt city".. Burton's is nothing like that.

I agree. It's not even close to a a good way.

            2. re: treb

Last I checked, the 99 wasn't serving Arctic Charr.

I think Burton's has one of the most underrated burgers around.

            3. Hi Marilu! My family and I have been going to the North Andover location. I would never compare it to a "99"! I think it is overpriced but the food is consistently good and the waitstaff are very knowledgeable and accomadating. They often prepare something for me that is not on the menu if I ask...example: Cobb Salad, fish prepared a certain way, etc.. I think that unfortunately things are changing now that they have linked with Simon Malls but I still love my Burtons in North Andover. If you go there, ask for "Elaine", she is great! Also, the sous chefs are great! All veggies are cut the same size...cannot say that about a whole bunch of restaurants. Enjoy!

Ok maybe not the 99, but I'd compare it to an overpriced Grassfields. The food in the North Andover/Andover area pretty much stinks. We moves here about 6 months ago and haven't found anything all that great. Its pretty much the same comment when we leave a restaurant " That wasn't terrible"

have you tried Shadi's, just before the high school, on 125 in N. Andover?

We haven't yet, been meaning to.We actually had a pretty good meal tonight at Josephs in Bradford, not mind blowing by any means, just solid red sauce Italian.

Joseph's has pretty good grilled fish, I like sitting at the bar, agree it's OK. Also, for OK Mex try Cafe Azteca in Lawrence on Common St.

Cafe Azteca is really good, not quite Angelas, but a good mole.
