dinner for 8 for LA hound

Coming in from LA for a few nights for work. Have reservation at The Publican one nigh. I was wondering if there are any restaurants that you would recommend a fun place with good food. I'm thinking of something like Animal food wise where you can share/try a bunch of plates with the rich, flavor packed, many times porky, unctuous, delicious and savory food you savor for years. I will settle for good food. I know we won't be able to get into the Girl and the Goat but know there is no chance of that. Thanks in advance.

I think purple pig and longman & eagle both fit he bill-- fun, delicious, porky, shared plates. Neither one takes reservations, but I have dined at both with groups of 6 and 7; just need to get there early or plan to grab a drink nearby while waiting.

You might also look into telegraph, yusho (Japanese street food/ small plates), cafe lula.

Try Mercat a la Planxa. Noisy but fun, with excellent small plates.

Great suggestion for first rate Spanish tapas. You might also like Carnivale which is fun and boisterous and serves Nuevo Latino fare. Another really great option from another Top Chef contender Dale Levitski is Sprout. It's quieter but the food is excellent often deconstructed standards with a twist.
