Steak Pit in Bragg Creek-anyone eaten there?

Anyone eaten there lately? Like the last 5 years. I don’t know much about it. Curious to know if I should go.

  1. I can't beleive its still in business!! we were there last year & were the only patrons, the place was dark, dirty & the service was non exsistent............we left after one drink!!!

    1. If you feel the need to go to Bragg Creek, try The Bavarian Inn. Went there this weekend and had the dumpling appetiser with onions and the schnitzel sandwich. The dumplings were terriffic, with gobs of carmelised onions, and the schnitzel was equal to the best I've had anywhere, very light and crunchy and flavourful. For $15 the large veal sandwich on rye comes with soup or salad. I had the potato soup which was creamy without lots of cream, and Mrs Scary had the salad with really nice vinaigrette.

      Next time, schnitzel with spaetzle.

I was going to post the same thing earlier and never got around to it. The Bavarian Inn is a great meal, and while it's certainly not cheap, they provide excellent value with the fantastic food.

It has to be the best German food you can find in the Calgary area, and also features some Canadian focused plates (game/local).

PS- The Maultaschen (dumplings) are to die for.

Meant to add that the service is friendly and attentive. It wasn't too busy-the weather and roads were a little bad-so the chef/new owner came out to speak with us and the other customers. Nice guy, Austrian I think, became the new owner last summer. If everything else is as good as our meal, it will become (remain?) a destination restaurant.
