  1. There are a number of Pubs" on 3rd Ave.

    1. I've been looking too. Sure there is Maggie's and Connoly's but neither are anything that will satisfy your craving. I feel your pain.

      Hope I'm proven wrong w a suggestion.

      2. Too late for lunch today, obviously. But I used to live in that neighborhood and there are more/better options over on 2nd ave. Of the lot, Manchester Pub had the best food, IMO. But again, I haven't spent much time there in the last three years, so I may be out of date. Press Box was good too, but a little spendier with no commensurate increase in quality.

        1. Just slightly south of midtown east, along 3rd near 37th, is Wild Edibles, the restaurant with the seafood fish store. I like the fresh cod fish and chips that they serve. Decent appropriate wines and good beer lists, too.

Accept it's more than 15 blocks down from where i am....=(
I ended up going to Manchester pub on 2nd ave with a coworker and we both ordered fish and chips. Cod fish was nicely fried with moist meat but I think the cook forgot to salt the fish but overall, it was pretty good. Their fries were just way too greasy.
On the way, I saw at least 5-6 Irish pubs on 2nd ave so I might try a different one every Friday until Easter.

On a nice day 15 blocks, North or South, is a short walk in Manhattan.

It's not that I mind the walk. It's just that I get about an hour for lunch.
