Late night recs Bucktown: urgent!

My husband and I are making a spur of the moment trip to Chicago. We arrive late Friday night and are staying in Bucktown. A place w decent vegetarian options and stellar beer list would be ideal. But beggars can't be choosers.

    How late is late?
The Bristol is wonderful gastropub and would be my first choice. It serves up until 11 on Friday nights. There's also Ripasso, but I'm not sure about the beer list (good wines) or Francesca's Forno which are both Italian and open rather late. And then there's Piece, a New Haven-style pizza place with good brews. Open past midnight.

It might be worth a short cab/L ride to head to Logan Square -- Longman & Eagle is open late (though the vegetarian options are few and far between) and Lula's is open until midnight (with reservations available for tonight). Lula's beer list isn't the greatest, however. Revolution Brewing is the city's best overall brewpub right now (I think) and does well with vegetarian options. Menu is limited to burgers/sandwiches/pizzas for the most part, but they're really, really well executed.

Another option more in Wicker Park is Bangers & Lace, though it is another place lacking in a number of vegetarian options. I have also found the staff to be almost insufferably snotty and unpleasant. But the beer list is very, very strong.

chicgail, what do you think of Bluebird? I haven't been too impressed in the past, but I believe they brought in a new chef recently to overhaul the food menu. Beer list is good and it's in the right area.

I haven't been to Bluebird recently, danimalakey. It is open late and that's when I've wound up there. The brews were better than the food. Maybe it's worth a retry if they have a new chef.

I do love Longman & Eagle. They have what I consider to be a well-deserved Michelin star and their beer and ale selection is excellent. They don't take reservations, but that shouldn't be a problem if you go late. I will have to try Revolution Brewing. Passed by there yesterday and thought about it then.

The Southern on North Avenue near Milwaukee/Damen has just started their late night menu. A bar with good food.

Where in Bucktown are you staying? If you are within Wicker Park distance (most likely a short cab ride away) I suggest going to Big Star, the Taco outpost from the same people heading up the likes of Publican and Avec. It's not particularly veg friendly, per se, but they do have veg options and oh- you could die on their guac alone. Great beer list, $3 whiskey shots, delicious and dangerous margarita pitchers....
They are open late and also have a to-go window.
