Looking for a dinner recommendation. Going to be in Manhattan one night next week, casual with a great atmosphere, but not too stuffy. Something around/under $100/person. Probably puts Eleven Madison Park out of range, right? Pondering WD-50 or Gramercy Tavern...your thoughts?

Have you looked into the new Empellon Cocina? it's supposed to be a scaled up version of the Taqueria. Looks gorgeous.

How about Tocqueville or Boulud Sud?

Since you are planning only ONE week in advance, I would make sure the restaurants you want still have reservations left. The ones you mentioned are both pretty popular.

For example, for next Thursday, for a party of 2, GT only has 5:30 and 10:30 left on OpenTable.

WD-50 only has 10:00pm and after, for a party of 2 next Thursday.

All depends if $100 includes tax, tip, wine, etc - if so, WD-50 and Gramercy Tavern ore out.

          $100 before tax/tip = $77 (give or take)

Wine by-the-glass or cocktails are probably around $12 at the lower end - by the bottle, probably mid-40s for the cheapest decent bottle. So with two drinks each / one bottle it'd be a mid-50s food price you'd be dealing with.

(I know, $100/pp suddenly turns into half that after factoring in beverages and t/t... it's kind of crazy...)
