~ Need to know how long to STEAM brown rice ~

for those that don't understand cooking terminology -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steaming

Wash the brown rice until the water runs clear. Place 1 cup rice and two cups cold water in a heavy-bottomed saucepan with a tight-fitting lid. Bring to a rapid boil over high heat uncovered. Reduce the heat to low-ish and cover the pan. Allow to barely simmer for 35 minutes without lifting the lid. Remove from heat without lifting the lid and let stand and steam for 20 minutes. Fluff and serve.

The OP wants to steam it. I would gather that is why the link to the definition of steaming was given.
      I know, I know....

The rice is first boiled and then steamed. This is the traditional Chinese method for steamed rice.

It just looks like the OP wants it steamed... to begin with. I found a couple of recipes. I think it's unusual, and I wouldn't do it that way. :-)

"you need to cook whole grain to make them more digestible. you can for example just eat oats raw like people do."
What? You need to cook them, but then you say you can eat them raw. Makes no sense.
I just did a google search: steaming brown rice

and just a tip: starting a post with a wiki lesson on cooking terminology, assuming that folks here don't know what steaming means, is kinda insulting.
