Blackbird v Sepia

My wife, dad, and I are going to dinner and are trying to decide.
We want something fun and modern and we are also needing to make an 8pm meeting at Aviary.
Which do you recommend?
We also looked at Naha. It's farther from Aviary but near the hotel.

  1. Blackbird, IMHO. Though Blackbird can get very loud. A big, big fan of Naha, too. Not a thing wrong with Sepia but I prefer the other two. But you are splitting hairs in the comparisons. Again, in my opinion.

I second your recommendation HF. Definitely Blackbird. And Naha is always good.

Thanks! Are there other places that you'd suggest? Basically we just need to make sure we can get to Aviary by 8pm.
We LOVE the Purple Pig and will do that either for dinner or lunch. But it doesn't take reservations, so we'd risk waiting to get in and then needing to be out around 7:45.
Same concern with Avec, which we'd like to try too.
We love Publican, but my Dad has been there before and we want to take him somewhere new.

I prefer the food slightly at Blackbird, but infinitely prefer the atmosphere @ Sepia. Sepia's actually one of my favorite spots in the city for dates or small family gatherings. Blackbird is loud, very contemporary/modern, and its table are packed tightly next to one another. Sepia's beautiful, more relaxed/refined, and more conducive to conversation.
