Where to eat in Niagara Falls/Buffalo area
My wife and I are going to Niagara Falls for a week. It’s been 23 years since we were last there. I’m sure most of places we ate are long gone. We’re planning daytrips to Rochester and Corning. Any suggestions on where to eat? TIA.

Mighty Taco is one small step above Taco Bell but they do have the local drink, loganberry soda. The big Buffalo specialty is beef on weck, predating wings. Schwabls' in West Seneca will give you the ur-beef on week experience, and Bar-Bill's in East Aurora is worth stopping in on if you're in the neighborhood. Try the birch beer - another local specialty, especially if it's draft.
I've never been impressed with the food in Niagara Falls, although we stumbled upon The Falls and Firkin in some casino complex on the Canadian side which had decent beer and very good salads. I remember eating at a brewpub in Corning about 5 years ago that wasn't bad, but as others have said it's a good 3 hours from the Falls.

Just downriver is Lewiston, and a restaurant I've never seen mentioned is definitely worth some more love. Carmelo's on Center St, upscale modern Italian, really excellent food, the dining room used to be the village jail in the 1800s, so it's old but not draped in Ye Olde-ness.
http://www.carmelos-restaurant.com/The village itself is worth a stroll and they've really updated the waterfront. Stop in at DiCamillo's Bakery, try their "pizza bread," really focaccia or their sweet baked goods.

If you venture south to Buffalo, I highly recommend a hot dog stop at a Ted's. Local chain, flame-broiled dogs and burgers, and for a truly local flavor, a loganberry pop (not soda in WNY).

For frozen custard in Buffalo, try Anderson's. If you want a super-traditional taste of WNY you could always try Ulrichs, which is German food and one of the oldest places in town. Lots of good Italian places around, too, both traditional red-sauce places and some higher end contemporary ones. But of course locals don't only go to the traditional places, and the great thing about a city that's not too touristy is that you don't really risk ending up in the tourist places. The Anchor Bar might be the exception to that rule. If you ask people their favorite restaurant you'll get lots of different answers, of course, but Hutch's (on Delaware Ave) would rank pretty high on most lists, and it's been around long enough not to be thought of as trendy.
Ted's is definitely worth a stop, and you must have loganberry with your hot dog.

I was reminded why we left upstate New York. It was cold.
We had a great meal at Carmelo's in Lewiston. Found a really nice pastry shop in the same block as Carmelo's. Great fried fish at Mr B's in Niagara Falls. My wife will flighting up monthly. I may wait until it warms up.

What kind of food do you like?
Corning will be a long day trip, but I'm sure you already know that. Have you considered including Buffalo in your itinerary? Good things to do here, too!

Well if you're into architecture, there''s the Darwin Martin House by Frank Lloyd Wright, which is now almost completely restored. There are some pretty good architecxture tours, as well. and then there are the art museums, etc.
AS to food, there are quite a few good places, Specific recommendations would depend on what kind of thing you like.
