Just Another Random Thought - Bear With Me Please
Folks, I've seen a total glut lately of telling people to "just Google" for their questions. It occurs to me that if people can get it together to find their way to the 'Hound, they probably have a working awareness of Google, Wikipedia, Epicurious, and all the other sites that could point them in any number of random directions. I know that when I post something, I have a specific reason for doing so, and it's because I trust this community for good, sane-minded help. (For the most part - though there will always be those whose goal is to cause dissent.) I want input from people whose ideas I have come to "know" and I want trusted, tried-and-true recipes. I get a much warmer from the sense of community, people who offer to help and seem to care if something comes off right.
As I said, just a thought. I know how to access all the above sites, and I do it from time-to-time.

"Just google it", like "do a search of the site" isn't an appropriate response. If you see posts that offer no information and just suggest people search for info, please use 'report' to bring them to our attention.

mamachef, there is a world of difference between your posts and the majority of the posts that result in a response of "just google it". You are articulate, well educated, knowledgeable in a professional kitchen, and know how to ask a question in order to elicit the information you are in need of. Trust me that you are in the minority of posters that I have read in the last 5+ years.
By searching various boards here, I was able to put together a gustatorial journey along the Gulf coast and up the Mississippi to my sister's in Milwaukee last fall. Over 6 days, according to my trip diary, I ate 14 meals. The only Chow worthy establishment though was Witzer's in Mobile. From a gigantic plate of fried goodies in Panacea, FL, gumbo in Mobile, Que through Mississippi to Vicksburg, and tamales, more que, fried ravioli, and finally a horseshoe. I then pled surrender and rolled my rotund body into Milwaukee for the usual coach potato TV snacks of cheese and sausage.
To see what I mean, I suggest you do a Chow search of Orlando in the Florida board for the same questions ad nauseum. Bless their hearts, the Orlando Hounds still come through. And if it deals with the Space Coast, I will gladly add my 2 cents. In fact, I am trying a new place on the Indian River tonight.

re: INDIANRIVERFL
Thank you for your thoughts, Indianriverfl....I am glad you're still open-minded.
I find the majority of posts to be pretty well-informed, but then maybe I'm wearing rose-colored lenses. While the "just google it" posts are truthfully in the minority, they still bug the **** outta me, and I wonder why people bother. To me it seems like a big waste of time with a semi-nasty agenda, but I could be wrong about that.-
re: mamachef
I too have noticed the "just google it" response. I really hate it when I read that, because like you, I want to hear what people who are just as passionate about food as I am to give me there opinion/recipe/comment. I don't have much in common with the vast internet, but I feel that I do with the chowhound crowd. For those posters who say "just google it," I note who they are and try to not read their posts. It's counter productive to the conversations we're having here.
