Has anyone eaten at Buonappetito or Becotto lately. Looking to have dinner in Little Italy.

Buonappetito was disappointing. I have dined there in the past and thought it was one of the better places around however that night they gave me raw quail which is no bueno. The pasta I ordered was fine but a step down from the past.

Bencotto has been consistently good. Even though the bad experience is a n of 1 at buonappetito, I'd rather go to bencotto because I really like their squid ink pasta dishes, and they take reservations. Bencotto also has a nice burrata appetizer although the best burrata in town I've had is at Bice, but Bice has average service and can't get their stuff together when it comes to seating you at your reservation time. If Bice could do a better job with that and not be in gaslamp where you either have to get lucky to find a spot or pay 15-20 dollars for parking, that would be my favorite italian place in town.

If you use the parking garage close to JSix/Hard Rock/Dussini on 6th you "only" pay $8 most of the time (only if Padres are playing we are paying more).

Bencotto is good. I would definitely recommend it.

Also check out PrepKitchen and Craft and Commerce as well

I give Davanti the nod over both.

I really liked the appetizers at La Villa - foie, pork belly, ravioli, marrow - all very, very good.

Like Bencotto a lot. House made pasta cooked right with good sauce.
Reservations a good idea. Bring your own wine.
