Yuppification of Market Basket: Callebaut

greygarious Feb 21, 2012 08:08 PM

New England's newer MB stores include cafe seating and other niceties first seen in Whole Foods stores, plus some more upscale inventory. I was pleased today to notice random-weight chunks of Callebaut chocolate prominently displayed. They had milk, dark, and white. I bought white, at $6.99/lb. I did not notice if the price for the other types was the same. This was Burlington, MA, a new, large store. I haven't been to any of the older locations lately so don't know if all stores carry it.

    grey..........................
MB is my favorite place to buy groceries. Now that I don't commute to Mass. 3 days a week, we make a monthly run.
Her in CT many Stop and Shops carry the c hunk callebaut chocolate in the deli area, but notr at MB's low price. So, I don't know if this is 'yuppification'
We went crazy trying to find it before Thanksgiving so wife could bake, unfortunately it arrived in the stores in time for Christmas.

I've seen it at some other MB stores, also been to Nashua where they have a cafe as well, I've noticed those stores are very clean and better organized.

I understand that the MB on DWH near Spit Brook has just remodeled so that's probably the one.
