My family and I just spent a week in Lake Tahoe and had some great dining experiences at the following restaurants:

Womack's BBQ--in Stateline, NV; delicious brisket and fried chicken with black-eyed peas and collard greens. The sweet potato pie is out of this world; I'm a born and bred Yankee and have never eaten food like this; wish I had started sooner...

Los Mexicanos--on a side street in South Lake Tahoe, small strip mall restaurant with authentic, fresh delicious Mexican food. Unbelievable tacos, carnitas, chile verde, chorizo. Lunch bill totaled under $20.

Nepheles--Ski Run Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe; impeccable service, fantastic heirloom tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad; grilled elk loin with berry merlot sauce, fresh greens picked from the garden...

Plumpjacks--Squaw Valley, stopped for lunch there; absolutely delicious, fresh food. Had grilled chicken spinach salad with a mustard, apple-smoked bacon balsamic vinigarette, gorgeous decor and patio seating by the pool...
