HELP! advice on which 30" gas range to buy, please!
have a 22 year old jennair electric downdraft range/oven. If I replace the countertops, it has been recommended to change out the old range, too. The appliance salesman says that since I have a downdraft, I should replace it with another jennair range and he recommends a gas oven, too. However, after reading reviews, NO ONE likes the jennair & I do not want to risk getting an unreliable range. My 22 year old range is still working well and only needed minor repairs once. I would rather remodel the kitchen for a range hood than keep the jennair brand downdraft just because that is my current set up! Any recommendations would be appreciated. I have read about Viking, Wolf, GE dual cafe, bosch and I am really confused. Also, do I want a gas oven or electric ( I really like to bake) and sealed or open burners. Thanks a lot!
We just bought a Kitchenaid dual fuel double oven range. We have only had it for a couple of weeks but so far we really like it. The gas cooktop has five burners. We did not want to spend a small fortune on a range as a full kitchen reno is going to happen a couple of years down the road. For us it came down to deciding between the GE cafe and the Kitchenaid. The Kitchenaid won because of the ovens. They are both true ovens as opposed to the GE which has been described by some as having one oven and second oven that works more like a warming drawer. The ovens are electric. We decided on that because some people felt that the electric ovens perform better than the gas ones. I do not know if that is true but we did not want to take any chances. The ovens work well. We live in Ontario. The Viking and Wolfe ranges are a lot more expensive here than the GE and Kitchenaid. We also bought a high cfm fan that is vented out. I highly recommend that as well. Good luck with your search.
