Has anyone seen Bison in the last 3 months or so?

Are any of the on-line purveyors selling it?

    BUMPING a year old thread.

There was an article on Forward.com yesterday afternoon about a company called thekosherexpress.com who ships all tyoes of glatt meat under OU supervision including bison. So I clicked on the link and it currently is available in a twin pack of 1 lb patties, bulk is out of stock.

I recently heard that a few slaughter houses are going to start shechting bison, so it should be coming to a butcher shop near you very soon.

It's the best thing to serve visiting Israelis, particularly teenagers. It amuses and amazes.

But I like the flavor and texture.

Why, Adina? It is not SO different from beef.

I think it is somewhat different. But, perhaps, in a blind taste test I might not know the difference.

I especially like to serve it to people who have not eaten it before, like Israelis who are not entirely certain what a bison is. And Europeans who do know but have never been served one.

I recently had to get up from the Shabbos table and find a book with picture of one to show a wide-eyed Israeli twelve-year-old.

Well, the taste may not be so different, but the fat content is. I like that it's far lower in fat.

That's good news. I have been looking for kosher bison for some time and haven't seen it.

I just saw an article that said that the new butcher opening on the upper east side, Prime Butcher Baker, is going to carry it. I haven't been there yet to verify. I also saw an article saying they will carry venison, which would be really exciting.
