Need Del Mar Saturday lunch recomendations

Will be in Del Mar this weekend. Please recommend something moderate priced for lunch. Preferably Italian or American.
Thank you.

I'm hijacking this thread a bit, but I'm wondering what are some good options for dinner on a Sunday night that are within a cab ride away from the Del Mar fairgrounds. Moderate price, American, Italian, seafood...a good place to sober up after a wine tasting event. Thanks!

A lot of the same recommendations hold:
      - Flavor Del Mar
      - Il Fornaio
      - Red Tracton's
The only other place I'd add to the list is Market

        I would also add Kitchen1540

Thank you everyone. We will have to have a quick lunch around noon. What is better Pacifica Breeze or Board and Brew Del Mar? In terms of the food and easy to find parking.

Through the years have had great sandwiches at Board and Brew but sometimes I've found it's best to call in your sandwiches since wait times on Saturday at lunch can be a long time and little seating..patio is your best bet or take it down to the beach.
It's a dive of a deli and usually parking in the back is open but not guaranteed.

You can park in the parking garage at Pacifica and the food is OK. B&B has often street parking close by but their food is mediocre.

I'd rather get a sandwich at the Cheese Shop in the Shores.

But that's not in Del Mar. If we extend to La Jolla there are many other good quick lunch possibilities, e.g. Piatti

agreed...of all the places in Del Mar to eat and you go to B&B..
I really like Piatti's..where you in the US when it was Gustaf Anders?

Do you know if Gourmand's market is open yet?

"where you in the US when it was Gustaf Anders" - No

"Do you know if Gourmand's market is open yet ? " - Not yet but soon.

in the same vein, is there a cheap, but decent thai place in or near del mar? I'm taking my little niece to the dog show this weekend and she's requested thai food for lunch.

Remember its Del Mar so it is going to be pretty Americanized. Taste of Thai is on Via de and San Andreas which is probably you best bet in the immediate area.

Bangkok Bay in Solana Beach is decent for Thai.

Zinc Cafe is good for lunch

Agreed, Bangkok Bay is your best bet for Thai in that area. Claire's is my favorite in Solana Beach...you can call ahead and let them know you will be coming. They will write down the name and time you called, which will make your wait shorter. I find the wait to be pretty pleasant...

Lockwood Cafe in SB is pretty good too.

Bangkok Bay was a good recommendation - the food wasn't anything to write home about but it was super close to the fairgrounds and had large portions.

Il Fornaio is a small italian chain with a location in Del Mar, and the food is very good. Here is the menu:

Flavor Del Mar and Claire's on Cedros

            Both are American style

              Bully's Del Mar
              Poseidon..oceanfront...average food
              Brigantine
              Beach Grass Cafe Solana Beach
              Claire's SB
              Jakes Del Mar...average food..oceanfront
              Kitchen 1540
              Flavor Del Mar
              Il Fornaio
              Fish Market Oyster Bar
              Red Tracton's

Just had lunch yesterday on the patio at Del Mar Plaza of Shimbashi..ocean views and decent sushi/ tempura...2 hour parking validated which can be a huge pain in the ass in Del Mar.

On Saturday, the wait at Claires can be a real pain. I know Sbicca gets no love on this board, but the front patio on a nice day, things could be a lot worse. I am not sure if Red Tractons is finished with their remodel. I was in a couple of weeks ago, and it was kinda dusty in there.
