Looking for vegetarian friendly restaurant in UWS
I will be in town next weekend staying in the upper west side (89th & Columbus) with a few friends, several of whom are vegetarian. I'm looking for a few recs for places where we can all go get a good dinner. The restaurant itself doesnt need to be vegetarian as long as there are a few good options we can get. Preferably a place where we dont need a reservation for dinner on a Friday night, though we are OK with waiting 30-45 minutes for a table if necessary.

re: Miss Needle
Kefi is a good choice. For example, with the meze plate, they will swap out the one fish one and add in a double of one of the others per your choice. But you are right, it gets absolutely packed on Friday nights and the wait might be quite long without a reservation.
I'd also second the Gennaro rec above, though again, on a Friday night there will be a wait. If the OP means actual vegetarians, then Mermaid Inn is a terrible choice. But if the OP really means pescatarians, then it works.
I'd also suggest Cotta on Columbus and 85th. There might be a wait but the food is very good and there are lots of veg choices.
