Topolobampo or Frontera Grill?

We are headed to Chicago for a foodie weekend and we are big fans of Rick Bayless. Which of his restaurants would you recommend we go to for dinner? There will be four of us looking for a Friday night dinner.

  1. I'm a big Bayless fan also. Maybe this will help you decide:

Topo takes reservations, although they are in demand and can be hard to gety. Frontera takes just a few; all other tables are given out as people arrive. It has been recommended that to get a table for dinner, it's best to arrive by 5:30 pm.

You can sit at the bar and order from either menu.

Topo's menu is more creative and more expensive than that of Frontera. Dinner entrees at Topo range from $25 - $45. Prices for Topo's tasting menus are not listed on-line. It also has a wonderful seafood bar.

Frontera entrees are in the $18 - $29 range.

Costs between the two restaurants are much closer at lunch if that helps. You can check out their menus on the website lited below.

I've been to both multiple times. If you can get into Topolobampo, I'd say go there. It's a one-of-a-kind restaurant.
