Korean black goat stew with sesame leaves in K-town?

I have to renew my drivers license on Tuesday and I want to get lunch in Koreatown afterward. When I lived in California I used to enjoy black goat stew with sesame leaves (heukyomso tang?). I'd love to find a good version of that out here.

I can find two places on NYmag/menupages that list it on the menu: Kang Suh and New York Kom Tang Kal Bi House. Can anyone recommend one of these places over the other? Better yet, has anyone eaten this dish specifically in Manhattan Koreatown at a place they'd recommend?

Thanks!

can't say about in Manhattan, but Bangane, or Bang Ga Ne, in Queens is famous for this exact dish. doesn't help you for Tuesday, I realize.

Even though you see them on the menu at these Manhattan restaurants, I wouldn't recommend it. If you want the real 'huk yumso tang', you have to go to either Flushing or to NJ....There are two locations of Bang ah ne in NJ, one in Fort Lee and one in Cliffside park. I think one in Fort Lee tastes slightly better than the other location and it's not too far from GWB.

Kang Suh and Kom Tang are actually the same restaurant, IIRC - I think their menus are identical, though I might be mistaking KT for a different place.

That said, Kang Suh was always pretty solid. When I lived on that block I'd more often go to Gahm Mi Oak (the best food) or Kum Gang San (because... well, they have a piano on top of a waterfall, which you can't really put a price on) - but Kang Suh wasn't bad.
