Restaurant rec for downtown LA for before theater

Hi. We never go downtown. Any recs for a good, but not over-the-top restaurant in downtown LA? Coul d include a fun, gastro-pub. Not Roys or Patina... Thanks!

    Which theatre?
    Are you walking from dinner to the theatre?
    'Downtown' covers a large area.

      Hi. We're going to the Taper. Walking distance would be fine but not essential. Also, there's a Laker game tonight...Thanks.

        I was at the Ahmanson a few days ago and thoroughly enjoyed a dinner at Bottega Louie on Grand...within walking distance.
