reykjavik iceland advice? bun day?
I arrived in Reykjavik yesterday. I had dinner at 3 Frakker last night - great service, but the "sea bird" was not my thing. Wary of Icelandic cuisine, I tried the tapas place earlier this evening - terrible service, with food to match. And this after a hot dog lunch at the Blue Lagoon!
I'm quite concerned about the food options here. Can anyone recommend a place to get simple and fresh meals within walking distance of the downtown core?
Incidentally, it is also "Bun Day" on Monday and "Bursting Day" on Tuesday (festivities before Lent). If anyone has any recommendations on where to get the best cream puffs or salted mutton, please do let me know ...
Thanks.

You have to go to the Laundromat Cafe Austurstræti 9 101 Reykjavík
It's such a cute little cafe with a bar, but VERY family oriented. They had the best Chai Latte and very generous portions. The food was delicious. I wondered why it was called the Laundromat Cafe because it is all restaurant upstairs, but down in the basement by the restrooms are the washer and dryers along with a big room with lots of toys for the kids to play. -
