Substitute for mister?

I want to make goodhealthgourmet's lime chips today, but just noticed the instructions are to mix oil and lime juice and spray on tortillas with a mister, which I don't have.

Can I use a brush instead of a mister? Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help.

    You're welcome.

    Now, how did they taste?

My plans for being in the kitchen yesterday went awry, shallots.

I hope to make them today. Will report.

      Thanks!

There really isn't any substitution. A brush will put the oil on too thick.

(I'd guess that the recipe tells you to emulsify the lime and oil before spraying it.)

Do you have a toothbrush you've never used? An arts and crafts technique from gradeschool involved using a toothbrush, some water soluble paint and a popsicle stick. Draw the popsickle stick across the slightly wetted toothbrush until you can tell what it takes to get a very light spatter.

That's the only thing I can think of to mimic a handpumped spray can.

agreed - creative solution - I would have gone with the brush route. You can control how thick it goes on based on how much you let the brush pick up before brushing.
