Middletown Shop-Rite Butcher

Eric in NJ Feb 18, 2012 11:41 AM

This is to commend the butcher there. I don't know if in the past few months they hired a new one, but the quality of their meats has gotten allot better. The staeks are thicker cut and eveything there looks great. I needed a mess of beef shortribs for a braise and he cut me some that had to be 3 inches thick and some of the nicest looking ribs I've ever seen. Kudos to you!!

I do the same as well Mr. B - meats at Costco or BJ's. Produce at Wegmans' and I'm gradually weaning myself off of ShopWrong (W Long Brancj) with FTown (Ocean) being totally off the boards (though they are most proximous) - everything's 20% or more at FTown than it is at ShopWrong.

By the way Eric - here's the most compelling reason to look at the boxshops. We have beef short ribs as you describe (picked up at Costco). Lean red meat, just enough marbling and the best part of it? $3.59/lb and not $5.99 (Ftown) or $4.99 (ShopWrong).
