ISO: Whole Freeze Dried Corn Kernels

Anyone knows where to find it?

I have called, Wholefoods (only carries small seasoned snack packs), Summerhill Market, and Bulkbarn.

I just want to try out some recipes from the new Milk Bar cookbook. I know it is easily accessible in the US online (but they won't ship to Canada).

I think this is what you`re looking for...

I`ve used them for years for camping food

and item like this could be found in survivalist type stores and websites. there is a place in alberta where you can order a can of freeze dried corn

also if you check the camping sections of most sporting goods stores, canadian tire, look for mountain house freeze dried foods you may find packages of corn there as well.

You could also try Forest City Surplus in london ontario as well. they carry cans of survival foods as well. also note mountain house freeze dried veggies do not contain salt.

        Thanks, really useful links.

I checked online at LeBaron and it looks like (according to their catalogue) they carry Mountain House Freeze dried corn.

I couldn't call to verify if they have it in stock (closed at this time) but between the two toronto location hopefully they have it.

I actually asked Christina Tosi about this and she said go ahead and use the seasoned ones and just reduce the salt in the rest of the recipe. She did caution that the ones whole foods sells have a little less of a "corny" flavour that the freeze dried ones so you may have to use more to get the right effect.

I was also on the hunt for this product. It is at Mountain equipment co-op on king west. I had to process it myself but it worked out perfectly. Made a crack pie identical to what you get in the milk bar, much better than the dumbed down recipe you find online.

This good to know, but I would prefer to buy it in bulk, this is 28g (the seasoned ones at wholefood are 0.75g i think he said on the phone) I would have to buy 3 packages to make one batch of cookies.

It is interesting that the Store Locator shows this product in stock at MEC Toronto, I went yesterday and did not see it with the other freeze dried foods near the store entrance, nor any empty space designated for it. If anyone is still trying to source this I suggest calling first. I also couldn't find it at Whole Foods - but in neither case did I ask anyone because I was more looking out of curiousity than real need.

That's strange, I was literally there a little over a month ago and they had lots. I wouldn't have thought freeze dried corn would be a hot seller.

Go to LeBaron, that is where I got my supply, large tin (probably last me a year), for $30. Plenty in stock, and no membership needed.
