Weekend in Manhattan

h
hungrynica Feb 17, 2012 02:07 PM

My husband and I will be in Manhattan next weekend- Friday to Sunday, on an eating vacation. We basically want to try some good food and are looking for recommendations. We love asian food, italian (including pizza), caribbean, dessert places. I love breakfast also, so any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

      Thanks scoopG.
We're staying near Rockefeller plaza but definitely willing to travel and wouldn't mind having one nice romantic dinner ($75/person).

Jean-Georges' Perry St is great for a romantic dinner. Skip the dessert though.

I have not tried Perry St. and don't remember reading any posts about it. I am a big fan of Jean Georges , so I guess I'll research the CH boards on this. If all sounds good, I will surely check it out

scoopG, you list a lot of good places, but East Corner Wonton stands out to me as not seeming to belong in the list. What have you found to be special there? I've found them just OK and inferior to Noodletown, and their beef muscle is in large pieces and so tough that it's literally a health hazard - I almost choked once when eating it. So whatever anyone does, remember not to order that dish there. But their other stuff is just OK and cheap, but has never struck me as particularly better than any of other numerous places in the area, probably including the "rice with 4 side dishes plus soup for $4" places.
