Port/Wine tasting with food in Lisbon?
What a wonderful board this is! Thanks to all who have taken so much time to provide such helpful information!
My question: My son-in-law Alan and I will have time to kill on Wednesday, March 21st, waiting for my daughter to get out of the conference she has in Lisbon that day. (we have already booked tours of Lisbon and Alfama).
Alan is a lover of wine, and especially Port. Is there a good place you can recommend for an afternoon's tasting (preferably with some tapas or food--or even lunch--so we don't reel out of there).
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
In the Barrio Alto on Rua de Sao Pedro de Alcantra there is a place called Solar do Vinho de Porto, and it is a tasting room sponsored by the body responsible for promoting Port wines (the IVP?) where you can taste an extensive range of Ports at very reasonable prices. I can't recall if they had anything to eat; there may have been small bites, but certainly not meals.
Otherwise, there are several good non-Port specific winebars around town - Nektar in the Baixo was quite nice.
