Scarpetta or Casa Tua?
Will be in MB for one evening. Looking for a combination of great atmosphere, good food, and reasonably pleasant service. In addition, I generally prefer an outside table, assuming that it's not on the sidewalk next to a busy street. That said, I've narrowed down to these two and would appreciate suggestions for one or the other.
I am not sure now, I would usually say if you care more about food Scarpetta, if you care more about ambiance, Casa Tua. But eater just posted the executive chef of Scarpetta just left. I doubt this will have a major impact on their food but you never know...

Can't go wrong either way.....and tpigeon really knows her stuff.....I'm a Casa Tua guy.....been there at least a dozen times and have had an outstanding time on each occasion.....Two great places that you'll enjoy regardless of your choice.....I'm also big on Sardinia....have also had great results there as well.....

I am a Sardinia fan as well but I think that they want a bit more of an upscale vibe.

I have not tried it for a while but you can also take a shot at Il Gabbiano.

Scarpetta was booked, so we reserved at Casa Tua for 7:30 and was told that outside tables are first-come,first-served. What's the likelihood that we'll get an outside table OR how much baksheesh will be needed to "find a table" if one is "not available" when we arrive?

Not sure about that one. 7:30 is early for sobe dinners so that may improve your odds.
