Read up on Underbelly have you? (If not, well, you have your answer - go to Underbelly in Little Italy). Snark aside, you need to provide a bit more information than that - where are you staying, will you have a car, how far do you want to drive, and what kind of place are you looking to go to. Remember, San Diego is a very large place geographically.

I will, in fact, be visiting your fair city for the first time at the end of March. I am staying downtown, which I gather is unfortunate with respect to restaurants. Any recommendations in that area certainly would be welcomed. Cafe Chloe seems to be mentioned quite often on this Board. Are there other good options nearby? I'd like to find authentic and/or ethnic spots, along with a few choices for an excellent dinner or two.

I don't want to drive much, but I am more than happy to do so. After all, I am flying across the country to visit San Diego, and I want to experience the good stuff while I'm there. A little drive isn't a big deal.

Asian ethnic is along Convoy Blvd, not that far of a drive from downtown. LIke 10-15 min max. Lots of good Japanese--yakitori, izakaya, robataya, oozori (sp?), yakiniku. Skip the Chinese.

haha, well assuming you aren't just trolling (and I won't bite for the most obvious no-spoon answer) you might try Muzita Abyssinian Bistro, an Ethiopian eat-with-your-hands place on Park Blvd.
