Lobster Wok Riverhead is A-OK

Lobster Wok has been around for at least 10 years. It's a take out place that we went to quite a bit back in the day because it was great. Over the last 10 years so many new lunch options opened in Riverhead and Lobster Wok faded off our radar.
The two local "buffet" places are pretty bad and I was in the mood for some good shrimp with vegetables so I went to Lobster Wok and got an order of Hunan Shrimp that was fantastic. Absolutely fresh veggies with an ample portion of perfectly cooked shrimp. The dish was not greasy and the shrimp was not breaded. Super yummy!! I'll put them back on our lunch list.
They also have an extensive fresh juice menu.
They are located in the Dunkin Donut shopping center just East of "Ground Round" which is now closed. No great loss there.

  1. Lobster Wok is great, although I had a little problem/argument with the owner New Years Eve, he was sort of rude. Funny you mentioned the shrimp because it involved that very subject. Sort of a Larry David scenario, but in reverse. Anyway I was really mad BUT I will still go back because their food is that good...and those healthy juice concoctions are a nice bonus. My husband has a thing about pupu platter appetizers, they are usually a disgusting mess of grease, but Lobster Wok makes one that is delicious to the last bite. A first in my book.

Lucky House down in town isn't bad either, good to live near two decent Chinese take outs.

Lobster Wok is so convenient to our office.
Have you ever wondered how someone thought of naming a food item Pu Pu?

It's more convenient than going to town for me, unfortunately. Glad it's there. Did you see in the Times Review today, all the upscale North Fork restauranteurs saying you can only be great/famous if you're in a free standing building. Not necessarily! If you have good food, they will come.

Pu Pu, yeah I think they were messing with us. Probably why my husband loves it, now that you mention it. He's sort of perverse!

Free standing building? Never thought of that. Tell that to Boulder Creek!
I guess Rendesvous is in it's own building. Aegean, Tweeds and Dark Horse are not.

What does Noah have to say about this I wonder? Can anyone provide a link to this article?

            1. re: EZ Pass

Noahs is in the article. Let's see if I can link it.

It probably means "tastes great, less filling" in polynesian...

I can't believe you guys have two good Chinese places and here in Huntington village we have NONE!
