Cannon Beach - Best place to get out of the weather with a view of the weather
This is a last minute request - we're going this weekend. I'm looking for casual lunch or coffeehouses, maybe even more full service restaurants, where we can get out of the weather and sit and watch the mayhem outside while staying dry. Views of the water preferred, but any cozy little place to dry off and warm up will be appreciated.
Thanks!!

We just returned - thanks to everyone on the thread who contributed ideas.
We did not go to Mo's because our only car trips were from the hotel to the town and back - we'd also been to Mo's before, so we were familiar with the menu anyway. We did go to Wayfarer for lunch one day, and this was the only place with a view (partial, depending on your table) that we personally found. Wayfarer was good food mostly, but pricey. I loved my razor clams, but my husbands garlic fries were much too greasy and he didn't like the marmalade they put on his fish sandwich.
I understand now that most of the dining options are set back from the water, so there are very few places (except perhaps those connected with the hotels) that have a water view. The food wasn't the highlight, but on the whole, it was all pretty decent. Most of the options have a surf and turf american style menu (burgers, pastas), but they do an ok job. One out of the box option is a Mexican restaurant at the north end of town and a couple blocks inland. Their food was better than we'd expected from a small town, and the chips and salsa in particular were outstanding.

Wayfarer has recently been remodeled. The food is good there and the desserts are also delicious. Another restaurant that has really good food and pretty views is The Boardwalk at The Shilo Oceanfront in Seaside about ten minutes from Cannon Beach. They have a new name and new menu items. We have dined here several times and the food is now worth something to talk about. They have a great wine selection and full bar there also with a little firepit in the middle of the bar area.
Maggie's on the Prom, also in Seaside has very good food and pretty views of the ocean. They have an outdoor patio in the summer months when the weather is nice and a great Happy Hour there for future reference. :)

For a family friendly, kind of divey seafood shack experience, we like to lunch at Mo's at the South edge of Tolovana Park, at South end of town.
Awesome view out to the beach and the Rock, the whole wall facing the beach is windows, and right on the beach. Decent fish&Chips, chowder, and really cheap prices for this tourist town. Kind of going old-school, but it is fun for a lunch, or maybe just duck in for a cup of chowder and to dry off from a wet beach walk!

Yes, I understand someone else posted Mo's (that is what reading a thread tells you), but they didn't say much, so I added to the info.
There is a Mo's somewhere else in Southern OR, don't know where.... just remember some history on the menu mentioning they started somewhere else. Not a chain, just 2

There's a Mo's in Seaside also. Has a lot of local flavor , sells souvenirs, and has that nautical fishnet decor. If you like fried fish and seafood and chowder it's the place to go. I always stop at least once. The whole backside of the restaurant looks out to the rock. I also recommended the Wayfarer - it is pretty casual for breakfast and lunch.

Anybody else? We're leaving in a couple of hrs. What about a sort of coffee, pastry, sandwich place?
And come to think of it, can you linger a bit in the lobbies of any of the fancy hotels on the water? Do any of them have a cafe where you can get a cup of tea and sit in the comfy chairs looking at the surf?
