wd~50 - What To Order?

  • 8

I had recently made a post about dining at wd~50 vs Ko, or any where else that was suggested. As things have worked out, we're heading to wd~50 on Sunday for dinner. We're not sure we're ready to commit to the tasting menu tho and we wondering what to order if ordering a la carte.

However, in the end, I'm not sure we'll keep the reservation. Suffice to say that we've read too many mixed reviews about the place and a lot of people seem to give mixed reviews on the same dish.

In any event tho, we're still going there for the moment, so what's good?

  1. I loved the cold fried chicken. Desserts are good too.

    1. Big discussion on recommended dishes here:

Have a great meal. I find the tasting is much more experimental than a la carte; dishes don't make it to the a la carte unless they survive testing on the tasting menu IIRC.

WD-50 is extremely polarizing. So much depends on the individual's palate, I've found. Flavor combinations that Chef Dufresne chooses are often not for every one.

Yes,I'd like to know also....what is IIRC ??

          1. Second the Cold Fried Chicken. I also like the Corned Duck.

            1. I wouldn't get the everything bagel. You can substitute it out if you order the tasting menu. A) I don't like everything bagels b) don't like ice cream c) the combination of a) and b) makes for a gross entree. If a or b appeal to you then obviously ignore this. Everything else I had in the tasting menu was lovely, except for the chocolate packets with crunch in them. The chocolate had the texture of vinyl and the flavor of the crunchies was... odd.
