Bar suggestions for 30th birthday

I'll be in NYC for the very first time on march 1st, to celebrate the big 3-0. Looking for a place that isn't a club (I hate getting dressed up almost as much as I hate house music) but that is also nicer than the dive bars I frequent at home. I'm more of a craft beer and wine drinker but would prefer a place that also serves liquor since my bf's drink of choice is gin and tonic. Any neiborhood is fine as long as its south of central park. I also love a place with great live music: jazz fusion, funk/soul, anything folksy acoustic. It will be a Thursday night if that helps at all. Thanks!

  1. Hi CheeksandLeeks- I wonder if you could give a little more info. Will this be just for you and your BF or a place to accomadate a large group of friends? And are you looking for bar food as well or is this just a quick drink?

There should only be 4-6 people in our group that night. Food is not so important since we'll be stopping by a lot of the restaurants on my bucket list during the day. Something pretty low key though still, no door guy who picks and chooses based on how you're dressed!

        You might like Jazz Standard,

Red Rooster has live music as well, but call for the schedule.

    2. The Jazz Standard is a good suggestion. I'd look into Birreria as well. They have a great wine list, craft beer made just for them as well as liquor and they have live music on certain nights. It could be perefct for you guys.

Is Berreria the place in Eataly? I think this may be just perfect since we'll definitely be in that area earlier in the evening. Thanks!
