Visiting Denver, need recommendations

Hi all,

I'll be visiting Denver with some co-workers on business in a few weeks. We're staying at The Brown Palace, and taking in a Nuggets game one night. Any recommendations for a great dinner place (great food, good wine list, etc) and a great breakfast place in the area? Any "must-try" places that I need to hit, or things I should know? (good micro-brews, local specialties, or places I should avoid?) The caveat is that we probably won't be venturing too far from the hotel and would like to stay in the downtown area.

Thanks

You're probably going to want to focus on the LoDo area, then, since that's between the Brown Palace and the Pepsi Center. There's a free shuttle that runs the 16th Street Mall and will take you right into LoDo.

Search these boards for recommendations in and around LoDo or Larimer Square - there are tons. In Larimer Square, you've got Euclid Hall, Rioja, TAG, Bistro Vendome and Osteria Marco which are all great dinner or lunch spots. Marco's Coal Fired Pizza makes amazing neopolitan-ish pizza and wings, and Snooze is a great spot for breakfast (though expect a line).

Personally, I'd stay away from anywhere actually on the 16th Street Mall - it's a tourist trap and they're mostly chains or mediocre tourist places.

Good suggestions. Two exceptions to the 16th Street Mall rule are the new Ambria and ChoLon Bistro (both excellent).. Another new place worth consideration near Marco's is Trillium (Scandinavian). I also like Row 14 and Crave Dessert Bar in The Spire and Colt & Gray and Sushi Sasa around Platte. If you want to pop over the bridge to the Highlands that opens up even more possibilities.
