Sarasota & Clearwater recommendations please

I'm on my annual trip to Orlando and have decided to head over to Sarasota for a day of exploring in the parks and gardens. I'll be staying overnight in Clearwater and heading to Honeymoon Island the next day for some more adventures, then back to Orlando. I've never been to the west coast of Fl (other than to take in a couple of Phillies spring training games) so I'm looking for some help with lunch & dinner. I'm good with just about anything except Indian cuisine.

  1. C'mon, NO ONE eats in Sarasota or Clearwater!

    1. I am going to suggest that you check this thread from January.

It covers the Tampa bay area, and the restaurants listed are all good.

Of course while you're in Clearwater, and crawfish season is back, you could always hit Cajun Cafe on the Bayou...

      1. Keegan's Seafood in Indian Rocks Beach (next door to Clearwater) is the perfect, casual seafood spot. It's in a completely nondescript strip mall, but don't let that scare you away. The fish is fresh and delicious. Their blackened grouper sandwich is as good as i've had anywhere.

Nondescript strip malls in Fl have some great food places. I had a really good lunch last year at Mid Peninsula Seafood on the way to a Phillies spring training game in Clearwater. This time I'm just exploring state parks and beaches. Is Keegan's a good dinner spot?

Definitely good for dinner. It's open till 10 during the week and 11pm on the Fri/Sat night.

If you liked Mid Peninsula, you will also like Rosies Clam Shack in Pinellas Park. Mostly New England seafood.

          2. Can anyone recommend a good Cuban place in Clearwater please?

There's a Columbia restaurant on Clearwater Beach, also. Good paella.
