North from San Francisco dining

Hi:

We are planning a trip in late September heading north from San Francisco stopping in Elk and visiting Mendocino and heading down possibly through Ukiah, Russian River into Calistoga (for Napa Valley part) and maybe Pt. Reyes. Have been up the coast as far as Jenner in the past and know Calistoga and Pt Reyes from previous trips. We really enjoy Millenium in SF, Catahoula's in Calistoga, Station House in Pt. Reyes and had a nice dinner at the Salt Point Lodge in Jenner sometime ago. Looking for recommendations for upbeat restaurants serving creative vegetarian fare and fish. Dinner will be our evening out before heading for the hot tub on the cliff or strolling town! Anyone know Greenwood Pier Cafe in Elk?

Thanks for any suggestions.
Maddy

We like The Little River Restaurant in Little River.
This place is really tiny- maybe 8 tables in a space behind the Little River Post Office. Only two seatings a night and the food is wonderful. I have very fond memories of their rack of lamb (I know you said vegetarian or fish), and they always have a seafood selection. The meals come with soup or salad (possibly both, I can't remember), and were very reasonable at under $20. It fills up fast so reservations are recommended. If you go, I'd like to hear what you think of it.

    1. I've heard that there is a gem of a restaurant in Elk. It must be the one you are talking about, though I don't know the name. There really isn't much there, so that must be it. Good luck

      1. It's been a few years, but I found the restaurant at the Albion River Inm, in Albion, just south of Mendocino, to be very good; great view, too, if the fog's out!
