Special Family Celebration Dinner in June

We are going to our daughter's graduation from college, and are frequent visitors to Montreal, we are looking for a special place with great atmosphere but not too upscale or stuffy, and not ultra expensive as we will be grabbing the check for about 8 lol any ideas..there are some foodies, a few fussies and one vegan..hmm challenge? Oh yes..and a great dessert menu for me please , any area that is metro serviced is fine thanks!!!

      another option is brasserie T!
if you call in advance, I bet they will get something together for the vegan http://brasserie-t.com/
or its neighbour f bar http://www.fbar.ca/ --- the gazette mentions that f bar will accommodate vegetarians if given notice.

We had thought of Brasserie T, it looks like a cool option and is near where we stay, something to consider!

I am not sure how to satisfy all of those criteria, some of restos that might fit the bill, I have not tried their desserts. I really enjoyed the desserts at Laurier Gordon Ramsay so you might check out their menu to see if it appeals. June Is lovely time in Montreal so restos with terraces or courtyard can be a lot of fun......t resto terrace in place des spectacles is reasonable but I cannot recall dessert, you also have to check that you are not in middle of francofolie or jazzfest fesivals as that can get noisy. But maybe you want fancier....

Laurier is absolutely not vegan friendly. Apart from their salads, there isn't even a vegetarian option. Ramsay doesn't cater to veg!

does that mean the one vegan would not eat fish? I had fish on two occasions and my daughter had chicken + salad. The three desserts we have tried there were divine

I did not suggest fbar which is next to t brasserie as I found it more expensive than t and although we had a variety of fish it was small portions for cost. Again I did not try desserts at either place so will leave that for someone else to comment on. If during festivals time (two big ones in June) both are reserved in advance and the outside terrace is more pleasant if weather good. And since your hotel is nearby you might want to get out of festival mania.

              > does that mean the one vegan would not eat fish?

Vegans don't generally eat fish or any animal products at all, including dairy.

vegans often do well at indian restaurants
so it was a good suggestion

Lebanese/Syrian/Armenian/Turkish could be vegan friendly, but call ahead and ask.

in that case, damas on du parc...if you don't mind very casual, garage beirut downtown is fantastic, has great desserts and is very reasonably priced. i've been in a largish group and had a fine time - but it is tiny, and brightly lit

you're vegan limited so i'd suggest Mythos' on Av Du Parc. It is upscalish greek in a casual environment with live music on the weekends. The menu is varied and well executed and the vegan will have a decent selection. http://www.mythos.ca/menu.htm
