Portland advice please

Thank you for your advice! Husband and I are going to a seminar in Portland for two nights in late April and Sat night will be our dinner out. We haven't been to dinner in Portland. We are looking for rec's for a good steak for hubby and I enjoy a great salad and am open to any recommendations. We would love a place that has decent prices for a good wine list. We are not gourmets but I'm a great cook and as we haven't been out in a long time, are really looking forward to it!

  1. For a good steak and salad I'd suggest Fore Street.

I concur. Portland isn't really much of a meat-eaters / great steak town, and Fore St. is definitely the best: superb wood-grilling of all sorts of things, sure to please. And it's not a "steak place;" rather, one of the 2-3 best restaurants in town.

I agree w/ Fore Street rec but also consider Back Bay Grill. The online menu has a Filet Mignon and a prime Sirloin. BBG is a bit more intimate if that is what you're looking for.

      2. Fore Street
        555
        Hugo's

        Bintliffs for brunch/breakfast

        Duckfat for vittles

        1. Fore Street is a great choice, but I'd also look at the too-often overlooked Back Bay Grill: http://backbaygrill.com/dinner_menu.htm
