Hey Houston! where are you going for Valentine's day
We don't eat dinner so are having a casual Valentine's Day lunch at Avalon Diner. Hubby keeps saying "What about Pappy's" so it may change before we make the destination. Yesterday I cooked him a Valentine's lunch of pecan crusted chicken breasts, baked potatoes and broccoli. I also made a double pan of dark chocolate brownies with a strawberry cream cheese icing. We are back to our diets on Wednesday so the splurging is going to end.
I know it isn't very romantic but at this point in life, we celebrate getting out of bed in the morning :-)
We are treating our blue and white Maine Coon to a grooming tomorrow for Valentine's Day.
My bestest is out of town. But even when he's here, Valentine's Day is the one day we are absolutely staying home. The crowds, rush atmosphere, mini-menus and minimal service on this day means we haven't gone out since sometime in the 90's. One year we got a picnic basket from a local French place that offered them to go. Usually it's lobster or king crab legs, super quick to make and yet special. Less often, steak. Wine and some chocolaty dessert. Champagne if there are no kids around. We still call them kids. They like that.
