As of last week, I can no longer see which threads or posts I've read when viewing on the mobile site (via native browser on HTC Incredible 1) What gives???

Forgive me, but could you be a little more specific? Is this an issue with the "NEW" flag, or something more entailed?

Yes, the NEW flag is missing. Additionally, when opening a thread, all posts are shown. Finally, I'm unable to post by clicking reply. And yes, I am logged in.

Any feedback or ideas? This is still going on.

Difficult to say, particularly since we don't have more information. I've not seen any other reports about this problem, and haven't been able to reproduce it on the Android phones handy over here.

And just to be clear, the NEW flags are appearing correctly for you on computer browsers, correct?

Yes, it works fine on my browser on my primary laptop (Mozilla on Windows).

I was having the same problem using an iPhone. I saw that I was logged in but saw no "new" flags on threads and threads would not collapse after reading them. I also could not post a reply. This happened for 2-3 days that I noticed. Then I clicked on "saved boards" and was prompted to log in, even though it looked like I was logged in. Did the login and, voila, everything was back to normal. So for me anyway it was a false appearance of being logged in that was the problem. Maybe this will help engineering with the problem.

This suggests that both of you had ended up with in a sort of login-limbo; your phone thought you were logged in, but our servers did not. If this does happen in the future, logging out and then back in again should solve the problem. Now that we have a better idea of what's happening, we should be able to investigate. Thank you for the additional information.

I also noticed it a few days ago on iPhone. Limbo is a good way to describe it. When navigating between pages, "log in" actually flashes briefly in the upper right hand corner as the page was resolving but then my name appeared which makes it look like I am logged in. Just wanted to mention that in case it helps find a solution.

The search function doesn't seem to have the same sequence and defaults on iPhone as the full site. The results returned putting the same search terms into the box on the same starting page can yield wildly different results.

To all of you: let us know if this happens again, or if it was a one-time occurrence for each of you.

Melanie: Any specific examples? A quick test didn't produce much, but our internal search is rather complex

Continuing issue. iPhone search does not default to specific board search the way search operates on full site, and pulls up site wide chowhound results. Very cumbersome to try to type in name of board on a phone.

We're currently testing a fix for login-limbo and should have it out soon.

I've reproduced the bug where search doesn't preserve board context, which should give us a place to start on that problem as well. Note that in place of typing out the full name of the board on the search page, you can:
                    1. click the "Advanced Search" button that appears on the chowhound tab of the serach page. For some reason it's half hidden behind the magnifying glass at the moment, so for now look for "vanced Search".
                    2. Select the board you want from the options listed there

Thank you for clarifying this, and for your continued patience.

Search on iPhone has gotten worse. The results only show for the "all" tab. Clicking on chowhound tab to navigate back to board specific does nothing.

Yes, we're aware of this issue. I'm not sure what's involved with fixing it, but I wanted to let you know that we know about it.

                        Thanks! Dave MP

I posted so that folks would know that the workaround Engineering proposed on March 14 is no longer possible.

On top of this, if you try to search for a string in double quotes, it fails because it interprets the double quotes literally as the characters: %22 (i.e., "food" becomes %22food%22 and of course returns nothing)

It's been some time since I've tried using double quotes for search terms on my iPhone. But tried it a couple days ago and this problem seems to be solved. How about for you?

Uploaded photos showing as line of dots or maybe empty boxes. Don't know if it's iPhone issue or the horribly slow "E" carrier in rural France. Photos in this post could be viewed yesterday, not today.

We weren't able to reproduce it on this end on iPhone or Android. The foreign ISP would make for an odd cause, but I wouldn't rule it out.
