Looking for really delicious sandwiches (platter) for a party

We're hosting a party of about 30 people next month and I'd love to find a place that has really good sandwiches we can buy by the platter. We're north of Boston (Reading) but can do Arlington, Somerville, Cambridge, as well. The sandwiches don't have to be "fancy" necessarily but just really high quality ingredients put together well.

TIA, Sara

PS Yes, I've considered just doing it myself...still a slight possibility.

  1. If you can stretch to Lexington, Neillio's Gourmet Farms really excells at this.

    1. Pace's in Saugus may work. I have never gotten their sandwich platters, but have gotten their cold cuts and rolls and made my own. their website shows both cold cut platters, sandwich platters and Italian dishes.

      1. If you're willing to go to Middleton ( just beyond the N. Reading line) Sol Bean Cafe would be a good idea. I have never had catering from there but their food is interesting and high quality.

        1. I'm sure Flour could do that. I really enjoy their roast beef sandwich with crispy onions. The lamb sandwich is also quite good.

I agree with Flour rec. I had their roast beef sandwich last week & it was the best sandwich I've ever had. I had a hard time deciding what sandwich to get b/c the choices & flavors all sounded great. My husband got the blt & he said it was delicious. The roast beef is so wonderful, that I'm now thinking of driving there for lunch today!

i also agree with flour. we ordered a wonderful sandwich platter for my graduation luncheon a few years ago, and we frequently get it at work.

            2. I love the food from Neapoli's Cafe & Pizza, 43 Lebanon St., Malden.

Exceptional food. It's right off of Main St., Melrose. The menu doesn't state all of their great sandwiches, my favorite is The Alan... grilled chix, Portabello Mushrooms, Smoked Mozzarella and Pesto. Much more than a regular sub shop/pizza place. And the prices are reasonable.

BTW, I have no affiliation with them......... just a big fan. :)

Totally agree that Neillio's in Lexington is terrific, especially their turkey terrific sandwich. Reuben is excellent too, and lots of folks love the Romanian pastrami.

I'm fond of Domenic's in Waltham if that's close enough to you.

Agreed. Probably my favorite sandwich in Boston!

              2. Cutty's in Brookline. They'll work with you on price.

                1. Wanted to follow up to say that we ended up getting our sandwiches from Flour and they were very well received.

                  We got the:

                  Smoked turkey
                  BLT
                  Fresh mozzarella
                  Roast beef
                  Grilled roast chicken
                  Grilled tofu

All were well received but the favorites of the party goers were the roast beef, BLT and the vegetarian ones (I will order more of these next time as I was shut out!).

Easy to order over the phone, certainly easy to pick up (thank goodness I didn't have to wait in the huge line!), spendy but it felt worth it.

The sandwiches are a good size so one per person felt like plenty.

                  Thank you for the suggestions!

That BLT from Flour is one of my favorite sandwiches.

                    2. Cutty's has excellent sandwiches. The eggplant and roast beef sandwiches are amazing

                      1. This is downscale from most of the other suggestions, but Costco's turkey rollers are outstanding.
Wrap cut into 2"-ish slices. Turkey, lettuce - and what makes them so good - cranberry cream cheese. They also sell l6ounce containers of crab or lobster spread (maybe shrimp too) for about $9, and very good store-baked breads like the roasted garlic loaf.
