Need Kid Friendly Restaurant from LAX to Ontario Airport area for Lunch

Going to be arriving into LAX around 11am. Boston chowhound, going to be renting a car, and will have wife, grandparents and 4 year old twins with me. I figure we be out of the car rental around noon and driving to Rancho Cucamonga (near ONT airport) to stay with family x 1 night.

WIll likely need lunch, want to take the family to sit down restaurant to enjoy lunch but get out of LA area before rush hour starts which I heard is around 3'ish.

I was thinking of Santa Monica and stroll around for a hour or two and have lunch, or is it worth it to go to Phillipes in the city? I also remember Japanese Curry House in Little Toyko was also very good (can't remember the name?). Open to all ideas as long as not too far off the beaten path.

Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome. I am renting a van and all of our luggage will be in the van, so this is also a consideration.

Thanks

Depends on what your budget is. If you have your heart set on Santa Monica, than Border Grill might work. While I'm a Philippe fan, it might be super crowded during lunch, and won't be very comfortable for your family. If you want to be in downtown, I'd suggest a dim sum lunch in Chinatown. I like Empress Pavillion, but I believe NBC and CBS are also good. Are you referring to Curry House? It's a chain, and I like it a lot...I haven't been to that location, but parking is no fun in Little Tokyo.
If you don't mind heading out towards the IE for lunch, my favorites relatively close to the Ontario airport are The Back Abbey, Kazama sushi, Darvish (Persian), and Aruffo's Italian in Claremont (15 mins from the airport). San Biaggio Pizzeria, Handel's homemade ice cream, and Caffe Allegro in Upland (10 mins from the airport).
